__"En este grabado Catherwood destaca aspectos pintorescos y exóticos de la cultura Maya del siglo XIX, en contraste con el esplendor de los ancestros que se aprecia en el fondo, aunque estos últimos aparecen implícitamente superiores. La litografía representa a algunos trabajadores del rancho Sabachtsche, un pequeño pueblo en la península de Yucatán. El pozo les permite a los trabajadores tener acceso al agua, un bien de primera necesidad, y al parecer se ha convertido en punto de reunión, y pieza clave en el establecimiento de relaciones sociales. Los ricos colores y el movimiento del primer plano, reflejan la naturaleza dinámica y productiva del grupo.
